We honor our "Flying Angels" who were members of the Sacramento Valley Ninety-Nines, and who have flown on to New Horizons. Some of these amazing ladies flew in Powder Puff Derbys, were awarded Women Pilot of the Year, held positions on the chapter's Board of Directors, and even Governor! We wish to fondly remember Shirley Lehr (2000), Betty Alair (2000), Juanita Bailey (2010), Corky Cronin (2015), Fran Dickey (2017), Dorothy Flynn (2018), Penny Nagy (2018), and Kristine James (2018).
The scholarship applicant must be a female who is at least 18 years of age, is actively pursuing flight training, has a current medical, and lives within 99 NM of Sacramento Executive Airport (KSAC). Student pilots must have passed their FAA written and soloed. Applicants do not have to be a member of The Ninety-Nines.
The Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1940 to help deserving members to further their accomplishments. Over 800 scholarships have been awarded, plus more than 300 awards have gone to student pilots earning
their first certificate. Today, the Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarship Fund exceeds $6 million and provides funding for:
FlyNow/First Wings Awards (Member only section of 99s website)
Research Scholarship Grants
